BackUp Sequences

Control multiple sequences to enable long term versioning control over any document.

Control Procedure Description

The Following Logic Is Used For BackUp Sequence Intervals.

• Short-Term: Sequences that are less than 60 minutes will be automatically backed up when the document is closed.
• Mid-Term: Sequence intervals in hour(s) will be backed up only when the interval time has been reached.
• Long-Term: Sequence intervals in day(s) will be backed up when the interval in days has been reached. The backup file will be overwritten on close to leave the user with the most up to date version of the document on that day.

Run BackUp

This control is used to run the selected backup routine(s).

Control Procedure Description

• Left-click to run the selected backup routine.
• Right-click to run all routines shown.

Add BackUp

This control opens the create/edit backup sequence form.

Control Procedure Description

• Left-click to open create/edit form.
• Name your new routine.
• Click the "Add Destination" button.
• Select a folder to store the backups for this new routine.
• Select the interval between backups.
• Select the number of backups that you would like to keep in rotation.

Show Changes

This control open a previously saved backup copy for comparison.

Control Procedure Description

• Left-click to open file selection window.
• Select the file you would like to compare.
• The selected file will be presented along with the current file with each occupying half of the screen.

Hide Pane

This control hides the viewing pane.

Control Procedure Description

• Left-click to hide the form or taskpane.

Auto Run BackUps When Away

** Outlook Only ** This control overrides the prompt with a timer which is shown prior to a scheduled backup (the user is prompted due to the application needing to close before a backup can be made).

Control Procedure Description

• Check this box to automatically run scheduled backups when the application is running and the user is away.

Change Version Number

This control changes the version number that is saved with the backup copies file name.

Control Procedure Description

• Left-click the up or down arrows to toggle the version number.
• Or change the version number by directly typing it in the number box.

Open File Save Location

Open the current file's stored location in Microsoft file explorer. *** File paths presented in red are not valid locations.

Control Procedure Description

• Left-click to open file the files stored location in Microsoft file explorer.
• This method works from clicking the icon at the bottom of the pane for the current file.
• This method also works by clicking the backup routine storage locations from the tree view.

Edit BackUp Sequence

This control opens the create/edit backup sequence form and populates it with the selected backup sequence information.

• Left-click control to bring up create/edit backup sequence form.

Delete BackUp Sequence

This control deletes the selected backup sequence.

Control Procedure Description

• Right-click treeview to expose context menu.
• Left-click control to delete the selected backup sequence.

Restore Selected Backup

** Outlook Only ** This control restores a backup from the stored location.

Control Procedure Description

• Right-click treeview to expose context menu.
• Left-click control to bring up begin the prompts to execute the restore process.
• Please read the prompts carefully as this will close the application, move the existing selected Outlook file to the desktop, the re-open the application with the restored backup file active.

Clear Data

This control deletes all backup sequences from document.

• Right-click treeview to expose context menu.
• Left-click control to clear all backup sequences from the document.

Refresh Form

This control re-initializes the BackUp Xplorer form.
